Wet Noses Getaway

Milton & Oakville

Services include structured walks, off-leash hikes and in-home boarding

Ever had a dog walker who became so embedded in your family that they're on speed dial as your emergency contact? Meet Gina Hill, the heart and soul behind Wet Noses Getaway. For over a decade, she's not just been walking dogs; she's been weaving herself into the fabric of her clients' care network.

What sets her apart? Well, imagine a dog walker who's more than just a walker but a trusted family friend, someone you can rely on in a pinch. That's Gina. She's not just about cute dog pictures and treats; she's about building lasting connections and being there when you need her most.

Behind the Scenes and Building Connections

Gina has been in the business for 11 years now, having started part-time in 2013 and then transitioning to full-time in 2015. This year marks the eleventh anniversary. Her services extend to Milton, and while her original client base is in Oakville, she continues to serve that area as well, despite the longer drive. As for the services offered, they include three structured pack walks and an off-leash hike twice a week.

Additionally, she provides in-home boarding, which is not just a stay but an opportunity for dogs to receive training in off-leash behaviour and structure within the pack walks, ensuring they receive a comprehensive experience. The result is that she can “ basically [walk her] entire pack hands-free.”

Gina's day begins with a structured walk and training. As she loads up her car with the dogs, anticipation builds for the adventures that lie ahead. What truly fills her heart is knowing that her clients trust her enough to reach out in emergencies: "I’ve had many clients who have faced the loss of a husband, child or dog, and they call on me to take care of their dog during these tough times.”

Being there for them, knowing they can rely on her without a worry or second thought, makes her feel valued. The fact that she can be considered part of their care network brings immense joy in what she does.

“They don't need to worry. They don't need to think. And I just love that I can be a part of their extended family in that way.”

Tinyhorse: A Game-Changer in Dog Walking

Tinyhorse products have become an integral part of Gina’s daily operations, to the point where their use is second nature:

“It's just a part of me now. And I don't even really have to think about it.”

The lightweight and versatile design of Lead-All leashes allows for easy attaching and detaching, which is particularly useful when taking individual or group pictures. The ability to securely clip the dogs into the car is a feature Gina adores, as it ensures they’re safe and ready for transport without any hassle. The Sidekick has been a revolutionary addition, offering the flexibility to mix and match accessories as needed. Perhaps the most significant advantage is the hands-free functionality of the gear, which allows her to perform tasks without being encumbered, enhancing efficiency and safety.

“I really love their Sidekick. That was a game-changer for me. And I love that you can mix and match the different things that you need.”

A Final Word of Gratitude

Through her career, Gina has learned that dogs are incredibly sensitive and in tune with their handler’s emotions. Maintaining a positive mindset is crucial, as dogs will pick up on any negativity, affecting the dynamic of the packwalk. Every day brings new lessons about dogs, their owners, and the importance of emotional regulation in providing the best care possible.
